1st Initial idea:My first idea for the animation brief is to have a landscape animation that is of one location and this would allow you to see what changes through the timeframe of the day. This would be a stop motion animation
2nd initial idea:My second idea is to have a morning routine this would be stop motion where I have a character that does a quick morning routine in stop motion.
I think that both these ideas are manageable in the time we have been given and I think I could make them to a good standard. My initial thoughts about the brief is that i can use my imagination to decide what I do and come up with ideas and tweak them till I make it the best I can.i think success for me would be creating a animation that i think is good and challenging.
Research/Pre-production Work

The animation type that most interests me from this video is the stop motion animation.I think this is because this is what I watched most as a kid.

I really like the idea of this animation because of the narrative aspect being very interesting. The problem that could be involved with doing a narrative Animation is that it will be hard to fit it into the timeframe that we have for the video.
I really like this animation because of the execution of the stop motion with the people and the idea of only doing the animation in one location.
I think that this style of animation is very interesting especially the fact that because of the abstract animation that you can't predict what will happen in the Animation.Whereas the narrative animations are a lot easier to predict what will happen.
I have looked at many videos of different type of animation.
I have also looked at different videos inside the animation style that interests me most.
I have thought of some initial ideas for the brief.
I also have decided to do a abstract animation and looked at videos on both.
Evaluate it-I think these ideas will be enough for the brief one issue I have is I don't know how I will be able to fit the Morning routine into 20-30 seconds and also for my landscape idea I think id have to add effects into the pictures to make the animation more interesting.
Learning stop animation
I have already learnt a decent amount of stop animation from other projects and some videos I have watched. The main thing I don't know about from stop animation is the landscape idea I haven't seen many videos that do the same.
These are a few videos I have seen that have similar styles of what I want to do with the landscape animation but I will try and make them a lot more interesting then these.I might try and doing a stop motion of me walking through a location that I like.
Landscape Stop Motion Film (2012). Landscape Stop Motion Film. [online] YouTube. Available at: https://youtu.be/bNKOlQCZsuo [Accessed 14 Dec. 2020].
I think this style of stop motion animation will be good for my morning routine idea I could do the stop motion hand held from a pov perspective I think this would make it more interesting then a third person perspective.I also think this will be easier to execute.
The skills I will need for this brief will be stop animation and after effects/Premiere pro.I already have These skills to the level I need for this animation.
Presenting
My Plan for this brief is to do a pov stop motion morning routine.I will have to cut out some important morning activities to fit the time frame the way I will do this will be by when I get up I will make it so I am dressed and ready.I think the final end to the animation will be me opening the front door and going outside. The things I will include in my animation will be , getting out of bed,Eating breakfast,Having a drink and leaving the house.I think I will probably add to these ideas if either the animation doesn't reach 30 seconds or I feel like the animation needs something different.i will put all the photos into after effects to make this animation.

The way i would make this idea interesting is to have making breakfast but when i cut something or do a action there will be objects that are the same colour but wont be edible.I got this idea from many stop motion things i have seen.Mine will be different to these other videos because they focus on cooking where i will be doing the whole morning routine.

Synopsis
In my animation i want to focus on creating a breakfast/morning routine scene. This will start with a shot of someone waking up the way i will do this would be to take photos of the pov of someone sitting up in bed this would create the impression of someone having just woken up i will also add effects like blur and Vignette to make it look like someones eyes are opening. The next shot will be of a plate this would be the breakfast shot where i will animate the food using stop motion tricks to make the shot exciting. The next shot will be of a glass then i will fill up the glass a tiny bit taking a photo then repeating till the glass is full. Then after this i will have the food having disappeared bit by bit this would make it look like the person has eaten the food. Then after this i am going to do the same for the drink.Until its finished. If after all this its too short then i will add A shot of someone leaving the house but i dont think i will have to do this.If my animation is too long i am going to cut out the intro. These ideas are also very flexible so if i think of something i can try it out and test to see if it looks better.I will also add movement on the food to add a new effect for example when the food comes into shot i will have it move from outside of the frame onto a plate but in an intersting way.To make my animation more exciting for the viewers i am going to add sound effects but i dont want to make them too real because i dont want to make this a serious animation.
practicing ideas
Introduction-
My ideas for the introduction are to have it look like the person is only just waking up the way im doing this is to start of with a black screen and the opacity at 100 then i key-framed this to 0 two seconds later.I also added blur to make the viewer feel like the character is just waking up i tried to add the effect of vignette to make the intro look like they are just opening there eyes.
Another idea i am going to try for a introduction is to add a effect called dust and scratches instead of blur this adds a effect that disorts the photo this does work and does look like somebody waking up but i dont think this is as effective as the blur effect.
Software-From practicing with my footage i have changed the software i am going to use.I will use photoshop for the assembly of my animation and after effects to edit the unedited video.I will do this because the animation software on photoshop makes it very easy to do stop motion but you cannot edit videos on photoshop and i think it is the best software to edit videos.
23rd November
Today I am going to take test footage from two different types of camera to see which I like best.
Review of Lesson
I have managed to shoot some test footage from my phone this has worked well for me however I had trouble with the go pro because it isn't charging.Tommorow I am going to try and shoot some actual footage.
24th November
Today I am going to start to make the animation I want to get the introduction finished today at least.
Review of Lesson
I finished the introduction and i am waiting to create the rest of the animation.
Monday 30th November
Today in this lesson i need to finish the synopsis.
Review of lesson
I have finished the synopsis.I have also set up a folder for raw footage and added the footage i have shot onto this.
Tuesday 1st December
In this lesson I am going to start editing footage i shot yesterday.By next lesson i would like to have filmed all scenes then i will edit in the two lessons we have next week.
Review for lesson
The footage i have shot isn't working on after effects so i have used this lesson to find sound effects that i will need for my animation post production.

Review of footage
This footage is good but it won't work for the animation I want to do.
Final edit
7/12
In this lesson I put together my raw footage and I need to add some more photos to make the video smoother.
8/12
In this lesson I added the photos to make the video smoother but I thought of a way to make the whole animation a lot better so I am going to reshoot the whole animation today and then edit Thursday and Friday.
The quality on the YouTube video is broken so I have also put the video on a google drive link.
At the start you said what success would look like to you – were you successful?
In my opinion my animation was very successful considering how challenging the animation style I did was. To be successful I had to overcome a lot of obstacles, I had trouble at the beginning of this project because I wasn't very experienced in doing this style of animation therefore throughout the whole process i had to re shoot and change a lot of aspects. In the end I was happy with my final product.
What was the hardest part?
The hardest part of this brief was the stop motion shooting.I did three full reshoots of the animation each improved over time. The most challenging part of shooting a stop motion animation was the amount of photos you have to take for a short amount of time this was especially hard when it came to the section i had to make the water go down from the glass the reason i found this very hard was that i had to take out roughly the same amount of water each time until the glass was empty and take a picture each time i take some out.
What was the most enjoyable part?
The most enjoyable part of creating this animation was the editing of the animation. After shooting the animation I had to piece together each photo I did this with photoshop then after getting the videos from each scene into a stop motion animation I needed to add the sound effects that I had prepared. This was very enjoyable because it added so much context to the project and improved it dramatically. I also enjoyed the research aspect of animation the main reason for this is that I did research on many style of animations and many different Tv shows with animation styles.
How did you improve your animation skills?
My animation skills improved a lot during this project especially when it came to shooting the animation the reason for the improvement is the animation area i chose to make was very tough and was very hard to perfect I think this is because of how many photos you have to take before you get 20 seconds of footage and if something goes wrong you have to restart the whole shoot.
My animation skills over this brief has
Overtime with this brief i have improved many skills dramatically the main skill that i improved was the creation of the animation. Creating the animation was very difficult because of the amount of photos that i had to make into a animation, I used the photoshop timeline feature to create my frame animation. This was tough to do because if you import too many photos at once it breaks and doesn't work. I overcame this problem by importing different scenes at once then after exporting them and then putting them together with premiere pro.
What changes to your workflow could you make in future projects to improve your
outcome?
Some changes i could make to my workflow to help me in future projects would be, plan more time for reshoots and spend more time researching into different types of the topic. The reason i would want to research more into different topics is because of time management in future projects i should practice and research how long each different section and technique in the project and planning that time into my schedule. This would improve my overall project so I can focus on each technique and stay on schedule.
How could you improve your presentation skills (get feedback if you haven’t yet)?
I could improve my presentation skills by researching my idea further and being more confident about the project. To further my understanding next project I would like to create a very rough draft of the final piece of work. The way I would do this would be by taking photos or videos on my phone. This wouldn't leave me with good camera quality but would be very good practice and could further my ideas before doing the presentation making it easier to explain and better my ideas.
You did lots of work before beginning your animation, included in this was lots of research, trying out animation techniques etc. Which research was the most useful (explain)?
The research that I found most useful was looking into different areas of animations. Looking into different types of animation not only did I find the animation style that I wanted to create I learnt about many other types of animation and incorporated ideas that i had for the other areas into my stop motion. animation.
Who would you say is the target audience for your animation(consider: age range, gender, interests)?
Looking back onto this project my target audience for this project would be children or teenagers. The age range for my target audience will be from 10-15 I think that this age range covers a lot of the audience that would enjoy the style of my animation. My animations target audience can be any gender the reason for this is that I have created aa relatable scene which everyone has experienced but i have made it a more interesting experience.
How successful were you at evidencing your progression and work as you went along?
In the early stages of this project i was very good at evidencing all the work i had done and you can see the progression of my ideas in this project. I could also improve on showing my progression at the later stages of the brief the way i can do this is by writing down every mistake and every change I make in production. This would make it easier to see the process of my animation.
How would you manage your time differently next time?
Next project I need to plan my time for each lesson before the lesson begins the way this would help is by giving me something to focus on throughout the lesson making sure I finish the plan for that lesson. At the start of each lesson i should look at the plan for that lesson and write a plan for the lesson after. This would make sure I know what im doing before I start the lesson.
