Title/VFX
Brief:Present your ideas to the client and then individually make your title sequence (min. 30 seconds) for a target audience.
What were you asked to do?We were asked to practice the scribble effect. This effect is to add apotheosis on the dance moves or actions.
Did you need any help - if so did you get it from peer/teacher/google/figure it out by trial and error?i didn't need help from and peers or teachers i used the tutorial to figure out how to do this effect.
Did you play with the setting, eg change the effect at all to see what else could be done?Yes i changed the speed the effect and the size of the text to see how it would look at different speed.
How does the scribbly line effect suit the Bruno Mars song?it suits the bruno mars song alot because the song is very flowing and dance so it has alot of dance moves that fit this upbeat style.
What sort of effect(s) might suit a dance/techno artist?very upbeat and fast effects. They might use a colour changing effect this would make me think of a disco like dance artist.
What sort of effect(s) might suit a heavy metal band?very violent or dark effects. maybe a lighting effect that adds darkness and a violent impact.
Briefly, how did you make the effect? The first thing i did was added decrease tracking this made text do the inwards motion. then i made the text metallic. After this i added a reflection map this made the text look like light was reflecting of it.
Are there transferable skills you learned that you could use to do any other effects?yes there are many trasferable skills i have learnt.I have learnt how to precompose this is important to manage the space in after effects and group a section of effects together.
What effects did you learn how to do yourself?I learnt how to use the motion title effect. this is the effect that moves the text.
Was this something you might want to do more of?Yes i enjoyed making this title sequence in after effects.

Pre Production
Initial Ideas
Success for me in this brief would be making a professional title sequence that could fit into a real tv show.
1st idea
A detective show set in the countryside where the main character is a man who wears a suit everyday and is very serious. The only crime he hasn't sold is the death of his wife.A drama show.
2nd idea
A action show about a mob family that steals cars and they get away with it because they are related to the royal family.it would be set in London.
3rd idea
A horror show about a small cottage used for children's summer camps but one year none of the children make it back home. The main character would be a creepy tall man.
Research
1.
This title sequence will start with the noise of sirens and a still shot of a dead body outline. Then it will fade into a double exposure of the main character with the locations of crimes. These shots will include credits along side the double exposure after a few of the double exposure shots then there will be the fading of of sirens and there will be the same shot as the beginning but zooming in.
2.
At the beginning of this title sequence i would have a shot the a car speeding off from a birds eye view
Then it will go into a shot inside the car with credits this will happen after the next shot to the next shot
would be a shot of London slowly panning to the left with credits around some of the buildings. This title
sequence would end on the car speeding back into the same location that the car was before.
3.
This shows the title sequence will start with a shot of the main cottage in the distance Then have the inside of the cottage with some noises in the background. There will also be credits with these shots.there will be many locations shown in these shots then at the end of the title sequence there will be the original shot of the cottage but with the name of the show.

I couldn't decide which idea I wanted to do for my title sequence so I have decided to combine them together to try and get the best out of both I have done this by including the double exposure in my first idea and my overall concept of the second.

Final idea for Tv show
Genre-Crime
Concept-My tv show will be about a famous Detective who has retired and is now living in a rural area but there starts being a lot of crime committed in the area and he comes out of retirement to solve the crimes.
Characters-The detective will be the main character in my tv show. The only other people in the show would have small parts or be the victims.
Locations-The Locations that would be in my tv show would be very countryside and rural.
Technical proposal
The digital effects and art style I am going to be using in my title sequence will be double exposure I will do this to engage the audience and add interesting part of the show in the title sequence without having it be the main focus.
The genre of my show will be crime. My title sequence is trying to connect the audience with the genre and the style of the show before the show begins.I will do this with the little effects I will add in and the props and details in the sequence. My target audience will be young adults and older teenagers i think this age group will be engaged with my title sequence because of the content of the title sequence.
The visual effect will be visually dynamic because I am going to use the effect on things that the audience won't normally see the effect used.
The materials and equipment I will need for my Title sequence will be a camera a tripod the adobe software and a car.
I am going to use the details in the car to show the genre and the double exposure effect to show part of the tv show this will show off the tv show before the audience watch the full episode.
My target audience will like my designs because they are young and most young people like

- I have practiced different effects and chosen the effect that matches my title sequence the best.
- I have also looked at different title sequences to see what they look like and to take inspiration from them.
- I also made timelines bout some title sequences this gave me a idea about the structure of title sequences.
Post production skills that would be good for me to make the title sequence I want to make are premiere pro or after effect skills I think I have used both a decent amount therefore probably won't have to practice using them before I go into post production.
Presenting
My idea for this brief is to make a title sequence that has mystery. The way i am going to do this is by having the main characters face hidden.I think this will make the audience wonder who the mysterious man is.My title sequence will start and end with a landscape shot of a countryside. The reason i have done this is because i have taken inspiration from six feet under. The main effects of my title sequence will be double exposure.I have chosen this effect because it keeps the element of mystery to the audience. The shots that will be double exposed will be videos of crime scenes with the mystery detective. In between some of these double exposure shots i will add location shots with some action for a few seconds with credits.then the ending shot will be The landscape shot zooming in very slowly with the Title.Throughout the whole title sequence i am going to have some creepy music that gets louder with the double exposure shots.
Shot list
1.Landscape shot
2.Double exposure of a crime scene with detetive in
3.Shot of a man walking on a dyke
4.Double exposure of different crime scene in a different location but without a detective.
5.shot of a man walking on a dyke the opposite direction
6.Double exposure of a corpse
7.Same location shot but with the title

At the start you said what success would look like to you – were you successful (explain)?
I think i was very successful in creating a professional looking title sequence. The reason i think i was successful is that i have added credits and effects that look like they could be on a tv show title sequence. This made my title sequence successful in my opinion because I have completed the brief to a standard that im happy with.
What was the hardest part?
The hardest part of creating a title sequence was adding visual effects. The main effect that i had in my title sequence was double exposure this was very hard to create. I think that adding this effect was hard because the tutorial I was following to do this effect wasn't the exact way I wanted to have the effect so throughout this part of the title sequence I had to change and tweak things.
What was the most enjoyable part?
The most enjoyable part of this project was creating the title designs i think this was my most enjoyable part of the project because i like creating images in photoshop and manipulating different things and making a image look entirely new.The reason I think that i enjoy this the most is that i have a passion for graphics design.
How was looking at other title sequences useful?
Looking at other title sequences gave me many ideas my final title sequence is a mix between Sherlock Holmes and true detective with my own ideas. This made my title sequence look very professional because it is inspired by those tv shows. This research helped me out massively into creating my final title sequence.
How hard was planning your work to meet the deadline?
Planning my work to meet the deadline for this project wasn't as hard as other projects because we planned our time as a class. This made it a lot easier to meet the deadline because i knew exactly what i was doing before each lesson therefore I can work until I completed the task for that lesson.
What changes to your workflow could you make in future projects to improve your outcome?
One change that i would make to my workflow would be to plan my filming better this would include time for any reshoots or extra shots i needed. This would have made my workflow a lot better because I wouldn't have to panic to get my title sequence finished.
How could you improve your presentation skills (get feedback if you haven’t yet)?
The way i could have improved my presentation skills would Researching into the effect and my ideas to make sure the are good and im sure exactly what im doing. This would mean that I can present my ideas more confidently this would give the feel of me knowing my ideas a lot better.
Who would you say is the target audience for your animation (consider: age range, gender, interests)?
My target audience would be between the age of 16-25 i think this is a good age range because it would be too gory for young children but too modern for older adults.I think my title audience would mostly be males but it would defiantly appeal to females too.
When we’re talking about audience theory is there a theory that you could relate to your own title sequence, perhaps in terms of how you’d hope an audience responds, or whether you could bring in an element of representation?
For my title sequence i would want the audience to respond with the emotion of desire I want the audience to want to watch the full tv show episode just on watching the title sequence. The way i have done this is by adding mystery to the main character in the title sequence. I want my title sequence to have a nostalgic effect that when the audience would watch it they would get the memories of watching the other episodes.
How successful were you at evidencing your progression and work as you went along?
I think that i was very good at evidencing all my work until the filming. I could have evidenced my filming and each shot that failed and succeeded and why on my blog i think this would have helped understand the process i went through.I think this is something I want to improve on before the FMP.
Which elements of what you did might be useful to you in your FMP?
The elements that I want to include in my FMP would be the amount and the quality of my research for this project I did a lot of research on other title sequences i then incorporated them into my initial ideas. I then researched different effects that I could add into my final title sequence, after choosing which effect i wanted to use I choose which of my initial ideas suited this effect then I furthered my idea to make it concrete this helped me a lot in the later stages of the project because I knew exactly how i wanted my title sequence too look like before I started on production.
